A country picnic

A few weeks ago Matt and I took Finn to Roaring Camp, a park near our house that has a working steam train, for a family picnic.  The weather couldn't have been nicer, I just wish my allergies would have let me enjoy the day a bit longer. Hurmph!

Once in the park we noticed a Wanted sign posted for ol' Fast Hands Finn, so we thought it would be best to lay low.

Finn enjoyed himself immensely and we had no run-in with The Law.

Here's to more sunny days and yummy picnics!

Belated Easter Post

So this took me way too long to post, but here is my photo heavy Easter post. The day was beautiful, we spent it up in Yuba City with Auntie Mel, the weather was supposed to rain but the sun peeked his head from behind the clouds just in time for some Easter fun and the Easter Bunny showed up to hide some eggs for Cici so all in all we all had a great time.  Now on to the photos!

All Dressed Up

Finn asked me very politely the other day if I could put him in his vintage little boy suit that his Uncle Campbell gave him.

 Of course I had to oblige, he did after all say "please"

The suit is all one piece so nothing rides up...genius!

 Okay, okay, so maybe he didn't really ask, and maybe he really didn't want to be in a collared suit, but how cute does he look in this thing?!  I just couldn't help myself.  Thanks Campbell!  Finn will also thank you 16 years from now when I show his girlfriend these photos.

7 months of Finn

Today Finn is seven months old.  He was hoping to be able to show off his crawling skills for all of you, but they still need a little bit of polish before he is ready for prime time. Backwards is his only direction, I'm sure he will get the forward momentum before June rolls around.  Finn was able to produce two new chompers just in time for this post though, take a look at his bottom gums!

His backwards limitation did not stop him for trying to sabotage my photo shoot today though, check out this sequence (click on the photo to see Finn's witty commentary)

By the way...ten bonus points to whomever can name what I am using as a background prop for this photo.

Are you my Mother?

Are you my  mother was one of my favorite books growing up.  I remember the wrinkly face of the dog and the big dirty SNORT of the steam shovel, so reading that story to Finn the other day was a completely surreal experience.  What stories will he remember me reading to him and what stories will he be excited to share with his own children someday. 

I loved bedtime as a little girl because I knew that it meant my mom would come in and read stories to my sister and I.  She wouldn't just read us short little stories, we would get full novels, and each night would be a new chapter, The Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables and Charlotte's Web were some of my favorites and I'm sure I asked for them several times.  Although Mom would fall asleep mid-chapter most nights, it is one of my fondest memories.

Thank you mom for finding the time at night, after a long day at work, making dinner, helping us with our homework and cleaning the house to read to us.  I love you!
