A Lazy Weekend

My baby is sick.  He caught a cold last week; where would a 3 month old catch a cold you ask?  From his mother.  Yes that is right, I got my baby sick!  The poor little guy has a runny nose and the most heart wrenching cough you will ever hear.  So to celebrate the beautiful 70 degree weather we have been having here in Santa Cruz the two of us have decided to lay low and stay inside to play.

First up is ball time while mom has her morning cup of java

Next is some mirror time to help distract him from the fact that he can't breath through his nose and he is on his stomach.

But through this ordeal he has kept his chin up and has put his best face forward
This Monday I go back to work and Finn will have to split his time between Grandma and Grandpa's house and the daycare facility....this weekend has been bittersweet and I wish we could have both been in good health but I am cramming in as many cuddles as I can.

Cousins

Cici is such a good big cousin to Finn, she'll help keep him in line when he gets older

and he will love her for it

Three Months

Our little boy turned three months on Friday the 14th.  I am sure all you mothers out there are well aware of how fast kids grow-up but Matt and I are amazed everyday when Finn learns a new trick.  He can now grab objects and bring them to his mouth to try and "taste" them, he can sit propped up without slumping forward, he is smiling, laughing and "talking" up a storm and everyday he gets more and more alert and interested in the world around him.  Just the other day he discovered his hands and feet.  I couldn't decide which picture I liked better so I decided to just post both of them.  The black and white is classic cute baby and the bottom photo just makes me laugh, I imagine him saying "don't even think about taking my number 3 away from me!"

Enjoy,
Danielle

A New Year

Finn brought in his first New Year's at Scopazzi's restaurant in Boulder Creek.  He heard the event was going to be cocktail attire so he donned his tuxedo shirt, smuggled in a few bottles of milk and celebrated with the best of them.

not wanting to miss any of the action, Finn stayed awake even after being fed.

the happy family (someone looks a little milk drunk)

Grandma's spiffy date

Bringing in the new year with fresh air and big trees

On a different note, Finn had his first run in with another baby.  My friend Mari had her baby girl Xiola in September and we were finally able to hook-up and have them meet each other.  Although Xiola is a full month older than Finn he was almost twice her size, but she was much more advanced in the hand sucking department and graciously taught Finn how to do it himself.

Merry Christmas to all

So you would think that with Matt home for the holidays I would have more free time to blog, but instead we kept busy going on hikes when the weather was nice and going out and about on the town, so in short I am just getting around to posting our Christmas and New Years pictures.

In order to celebrate Finn's first Christmas with both families we had an early Christmas with the O'Briens and then headed up to Placerville to celebrate with the Winkler clan.

Showing off his Christmas outfit for Auntie Laura

Christmas ornaments from Sally; two Roosters for Matt and I and Tiger for Finn according to the Chinese Zodiac

From his Mommy and Daddy Finn got some Mad Scientist wooden blocks: X is for x-ray gun, R is for robot, and I just couldn't help buying the Star Wars ABC book for him as well.  As you can see he doesn't seem too into Star Wars yet...all in good time, all in good time.

From his Nana and Papa and also his Auntie Laura and Uncle Dusty he got these cool tin robots, a blue and silver one to help decorate his robot themed nursery.  When I finally get the room finished I will post photos.

Finally, it wouldn't be a Christmas without some embarrassing outfit so here is my blue nightmare!

We found out that Finn liked being in the carrier that faced out so he could see what was going on.

Here is a scene from Christmas morning

and another scene from Christmas night...The Lorax is Finn's favorite book, look how into it he is!
