This Moment

The other day Finn fell asleep in the car, and because we didn't want to disturb him we opened the doors and left him in the car while we unloaded and got things put away in the kitchen.  When we came back out to the car to check on Finn we found Bleu had jumped into the car to guard our little guy.  He stayed in the car with Finn until he woke up.

friends and sun

Enjoying some sunshine with Daddy last weekend

Finn hung out with my friend Lisa last weekend, she is so comforting that as soon as she picked him  up, he fell right asleep on her chest

Upgrades and obsessions

We used to have a generic mobile hanging above Finn's changing table.  It consisted of a musical box that rotated four stuffed jungle animals, there was a monkey, a giraffe, a lion and a elephant.  Finn loved watching the animals spin above his head while "Twinkle, twinkle little star" played on a continuous loop.  Eventually his spidy arms grew so long that he was able to grab each little plushy toy and rip them off the rotating arms one by one.  Much to my disappointment we had to come up with a new solution to entertain Finn while we changed his diaper as the poor little mobile just couldn't take the abuse.  So I set to work to create something that would be fun for Finn but still fit into my robot room theme.  This is what I came up with

cascades of twinkling stars that flutter when there is the slightest of breezes

This is Finn's view of the mobile

As for my obsession I have been into "screen printing" onesies lately.  We did a bunch for my friends Kim & Jeff's little baby girl, Makena, during their baby shower and then I made some more for my friend Caroline's work baby shower.  You make them with freezer paper of all things!  You can make any design you want, cut it out of the freezer paper, iron the paper to the onesie and paint on your fabric paint.  Once the paint is dried you peel off the paper and voila, you have a custom designed onesie.  Disclaimer:  I did not come up with this method, I learned how to do this from other blogs.  I also did not make all these onesies, I had the attendees at the baby showers each make one instead of playing the typical shower games.

There will be many more of these in my future.  I have to take a break and work on something else for awhile but I have so many ideas for Finn swimming around in my head that I am sure I will be coming back to this craft soon.

Six months and all growed up

Today Finn is six months and to celebrate this milestone he is dressing in his Sunday best.  To tell you the truth I had picked out this awesome vintage sailor suit that my cousin Campbell had given to Finn, but he decided he didn't want to wear it and threw-up all over it.  I know that I only have a small window of time where Finn will sit still long enough to be photographed and be pleasant and I was getting dangerously close to the end of that time so in a split second decision I grabbed his Easter suit and stuffed him in it.

After two head plants onto the hardwood and some serious silly faces and noises on my behalf to keep the smiles coming Finn let me know that he had enough.

"Mom...stop...seriously!"

Month five has been a busy month for Finn.  He is sitting up on his own, he has learned to take the lid of a pot to see what I have hidden on the inside, he has rolled over on his own and to top the stupid baby tricks list he can feed himself with a spoon, although I'm not a big fan of him doing that on a regular basis.  Take a look for yourself

Although it looks like Finn started on his side, I just couldn't get the camera on fast enough to catch the initial roll to the side.  He started on his back in the film. (I apologize for my high squeaky voice)

Notice the fun little confetti pieces of green all over Finn, the Bumbo, the table and the remote.  That is Matt's signature calling card right there.

Here is to new adventures in month six!

Weekend with Nana & Papa

Last weekend Finn and I went up to Placerville to visit with Nana & Papa and as promised, here are the photos.

Friday night is sleep over night for Cici and April at my parents house so Finn got to hang out with all the cousins.  The car ride was long and hot going up to Placerville and Finn was a little out of it by the time we arrived.

Papa with all the grandkids

Saturday night my Dad took us all out to Sushi for my sister Mika's birthday, yum yum!  This was Finn's first time at Mikuni's.

Cici on the other hand is a seasoned veteran and knows just what she likes...MEAT!

The whole fam jam.  I really missed having Matt around at the restaurant, Finn is now starting to grab everything in site so it was pretty chaotic trying to eat and run interference at the same time.  All you single moms out there and moms who are the primary care takers of your children, MUCH PROPS to you!

Sunday morning brought some bed head, smiles and good breakfast, which led to the need of a bath up in Nana & Papa's jacuzzi tub!

After a nice long soak his royal majesty got a rub down by Nana with some of Aunt Kathleen's wonderful homemade lotion once her Etsy site is up and running I will put a link in here so you too can have cheeks as smooth as Finn's.

And finally, before getting in the car to make the long road home Finn got a lesson in Safety.  We were riding in the cart at Michael's and he threw his head forward and hit it on the handle bars of the cart.  This of course brought on some serious crying and tears, so we had to find a safety helmet for him to wear while in the store.  Nana though that the helmet would be useful in other situations so she bought it and now Finn can be safe no matter what the situation.

Sunny Days and Shout outs

This weekend Finn and I drove up to Placerville on a solo mission to visit Nana & Papa and wish my sister Mika a happy birthday.  I will post more photos from the weekend but today I just want to share how happy I am about the beautiful weather we are having.  Finn and I pulled out a quilt and enjoyed some late afternoon sunshine.

Finn wanted to give a big shout out to Melissa.  "Thanks for reading my Blog, I hope to one day meet you!"
